Tell us about your career and why you chose ASCA?
An engineer by training, I gradually developed into jobs with a more commercial focus. For this new challenge, I wanted to be able to commercially develop a solution with a strong innovative and technological dimension relating to energy and the IoT. Last year, I was therefore presented with the opportunity of joining ASCA to develop the Sensor solutions market for the ASCA® offering.
In addition to the job itself, I was particularly won over by the values promoted by ASCA, such as technological innovation and ecological transition. I was also greatly attracted by the highly international and multicultural environment of the group associated with its clear objectives and the provision of significant resources to develop these solutions.
What are your missions within the ASCA team?
I have a variety of missions:
- Firstly, I am in charge of the commercial development of ASCA® Sensor. This consists of positioning our solutions to power compact electronic systems in numerous sectors, such as Smart Building/Home, Agriculture and Industry, in both indoor and outdoor environments. My fields of expertise are IoT, Home Automation, LiFi and Energy Harvesting.
- I also help our customers to define their needs and implement solutions incorporating the ASCA® organic photovoltaic film. I therefore act as intermediary between our Design Department and the customer by creating a relationship based on partnership.
- Lastly, I promote the energy transition aspect of the IoT at numerous events, such as exhibitions, webinars and conferences.
What are the strengths of OPV technology for the IoT?
Coming from a disruptive technology, the ASCA® film has unique properties that are especially well placed to meet the demands of the IoT and its numerous sensors.
Firstly, OPV technologies and particularly the ASCA® film perform well in artificial light, being able to produce energy under low light intensity (from 200 lux). In addition to outdoor applications, this property also offers the advantage of being able to function in indoor or low-light environments.
It is also easier to integrate thanks to its flexibility and the possibilities offered by free-form design. Bespoke photovoltaic modules can therefore be designed to meet our customers' specific needs, which are easy to integrate and are sympathetic to their products' esthetics.
Lastly, OPV technology offers a genuine and affordable alternative to the replaceable batteries of IoT sensors. In addition to the financial benefit of reduced maintenance, it also enables the currently booming IoT sector to adopt an ecological and sustainable development approach.
